About

Tai’s kayaking journey started when he was eight years old; his grandfather took him to Kinderhook Lake in New York, put a silly-looking nylon dress on him that hung to his feet, had him wear a lifejacket that was entirely too big, and – close to shore – taught him how to do a wet exit from a kayak. Tai soon tested that teaching… in the middle of the lake. He was hooked, and has been kayaking ever since.

Since that inauspicious beginning, Tai has paddled in several other States and countries… he’s earned a Level 3 Instructor certification through the American Canoe and Kayak Association, and is an Instructor Candidate at Level 4; he’s also completed the much more difficult Instructor Trainer certification at Level 2. Tai loves teaching at any level, and feels that being able to see the light go on in a student’s eyes is one of the best experiences ever.
